Painting 003 from The 1000 Paintings Project

Original oil painting on archival, museum-grade Ampersand Gessobord, presented in a portable mint tin containing the palette used to create the work.

When I was in my early teens, staying at my uncle’s house, I once became obsessed with lemons. I sat there squeezing and chewing through one after another while my uncle and cousins watched in horror, cringing at every sharp intake and citrus slurp. I must have gone through ten or fifteen of them in one sitting. My teeth still ache at the thought of it.

This painting is part of The 1000 Paintings Project, an ongoing series exploring observation, repetition, memory, and the emotional residue of ordinary moments.

The tin functions as easel, protective carry case, and display object, carrying traces of the painting process itself through the remaining colour palette.
